Workplace Etiquette: Social Media Friend Requests

It’s now more uncommon to NOT be a member of one of the many social media sites than the other way around, so chances are you’ve encountered the awkward instance in which you’ve received a friend request from a coworker you’d rather not “friend” outside of work. What’s the correct etiquette for this situation? Can you reject the request, or should you accept to keep things from being too awkward at the office?
