Rockford Chamber Celebrates Diversity in the Workplace

Rockford Chamber of Commerce recently awarded Hamilton Sundstrand (HS) the Charles Box Award. The Charles Box Award is presented annually to a non-minority owned, Chamber-member company that embraces diversity in their workplace, has achieved success in the business, and is engaged in their community. The award is given in honor of former three-term Rockford Mayor Charles Box.

Hamilton Sundstrand is an excellent example of how diversity within the workplace can be embraced. Their workforce makeup reflects their customer base’s rich diversity and demonstrates the wide variety of ideas and influences a diverse employee mix can bring. One of the ways in which they achieve this synergy is through their many Employee Network Groups (ENGs), which promote professional development, educational opportunities, networking events and community involvement. A few include: African American Forum (AAF), Asian Pacific American Forum (APA), Hispanic Leadership Forum (HLF), Young Professional’s Organization (YPO), and Rockford Leadership Club (RLC).

Hamilton Sundstrand is also involved with Ignite. Below are a few of the Hamilton Sundstrand employees who are also members of Ignite:

Veronica Blake, Imad Richani, Dan Kuehn, Darold Ingram, Diego Valencia, Kunal Patel, Tanya Wennmacher, Nick Fulton, Jared Boeke, Nick Westendorf, Juan Arango, Olusegun David, Terry Johnson
